2019
schuss/gegenschuss (eng.: shot/reverse shot) is a conventional pattern of editing and camera placement in sequences showing a conversation between two (or more) people. The camera alternates between shots of person a and shots of person b, taken from opposite ends of the axis of action. Here, the usual objects of observation are missing, leaving us with only two cameras filming, photographing and capturing the sound of each other. Instead of observing the psychology of a dialogue, we zoom in on technical processes of filmmaking: focus – shutter release – flash – result.
